The Höchtl's & Mayer's of Augsburg Germany!

Here are the ship's manifests for my grandmother Elizabeth Mayer-Höchtl, my mother Richarda Höchtl, uncle Bernd Höchtl. My mom Rita and her brother Bernd arrived to America in 1957.
I've been to Europe several times and the history there amazes me. I traveled to Bavaria in 1985 where my mother was born and her home town was celebrating its 2000th anniversary that year. It was an ammunitions base for the early Augustine's and hence got it's name of Augsburg. It's also nick-named "Little Venice" for all the rivers that run through it. Below is a picture of me and my dad in downtown Augsburg c. 1985. In the far right back you can see the Hauptstadt (City Hall).

Cherokee–Keowee–Saponi Connection?
My Sims/Green family always told me I was part Indian, so I started researching because I wanted to find my Native American roots through my Grandmother Lillian Golden Green. This is where the name Gardner Green came into play. He was listed on the 1835 Mississippi Rolls, and some people still debate whether this Gardner is our ancestor or not. I still believe he is, but not in the lineage that people claimed. I'm trying to prove that he was the brother of my 4th great grandfather Lewis Green brn. 1775 Surry NC.
In all my research it turns out that my Grandfather Lonnie Sims has Native roots also. My great Grandfather was Marshall Fountain Sims and I've found his sister Dovie Sims listed as 1\8 Cherokee Indian on her 1930 Vinita OK census.
More to come on the Keowee & Saponi topic...

Madison IL. Skyline c. 1900
If you haven't been on this site before, you may not know that my/our family came from the 1830-1880 era of Madison Illinois. I'm sure some still live there today. I love the skyline below.

For those researching the GREENs of Hamilton IL.
Records to this point show that we most likely came from the Isle of Wight in the early 18th century. Our family migrated into Lunenburg/Halifax/Mecklenberg VA and moved to NC around the mid-eighteenth century. Then onto Kentucky and the Old 96th District by around 1780's. We know from DNA studies that we are on the right track with Frederick Green of Lunenburg VA and Meshack Green of Old 96th District that married Lucretia (Creasy) Franklin. Our families testimony on their Cherokee applications support these DNA findings that we are related to the Franklins; this is also backed up Gardner Green's location to Esom/Isom Franklin in Greenville SC land plats. More updates on the Green timeline soon...
Green DNA Updates — 2/6/08
Our DNA analsys shows that our GREEN family ancesty goes to Henry Green born abt 1700, probably VA. Married Elizabeth Griffin about 1723. Virginia Land Records for Henry Green on the North side of Nottoway River shows he was in Prince George County, VA by 1724. By 1748 he owned property on both sides of Buffalo Creek. It is believed that in 1769, Henry's children left the county as no additional deeds were found in Mecklenburg/Lunenburg after this date. Mecklenburg was formed in 1765 from part of Lunenburg. Final WILL OF HENRY GREEN Oct. 15, 1748 Lunenburg Co., VA Children: Most records found in Bristol Parish, Prince George Co., VA. 1)JOHN GREEN b 1724 2)HENRY GREEN, b. 1725 3)DORCUS GREEN born 27 Sept 1726 4)STEPHEN GREEN, born abt. 1728, Brunswick Co. GARDNER GREEN is most likely the son of JOHN GREEN and grandson of HENRY GREEN and ELIZABETH JACKSON above. My direct line is LEWIS GREEN and son of either GARDNER GREEN, FILMER GREEN or THOMAS GREEN.
